West Kent Sunday Football League Report – Sunday January 22nd 2012

Division One

Division One title favourites Simla lost their 100% record, but it could have been worse as they needed a late goal from Liam Bull to claim a 3-3 draw with Robin Hood. Paul Butler and Clayton Cooper had given the Paddock Wood side a 2-0 lead but Lee Gower (2) and Mark Cox threatened to cause an upset before Bull had the last word.

But Artois United remain at the head of affairs with a 1-4 victory at Pembury Sunday, thanks to goals from Joe Adams (2), Craig Amos and Danny Mitchell. The Pembury strike was claimed by Rob Hendley.

A hat trick from Shane Blackman plus strikes courtesy of Alex Emery (2), Tommy Fuller and Sam Crisp ensured Paddock Wood Predators won easily at Crowborough Town. Ash Sceale provide a consolation for Town.

Division Two

Tonbridge Origin gained a crucial win for their Division Two title aspirations by winning at Green St Blues. Myles Lowden got the only goal in a very close encounter.

Armada and Green Lane played out an entertaining game at Meadows School. Ant Child gave the former a lead with Green Lane scoring twice to turn things around before the break. Paul Oliver made it 2-2 very early in the second period and Tom Vivian missed the chance to put Armada back in front, but was unable to convert a penalty. The visitors proved more accurate when they were awarded a penalty and ran out 2-3 winners. Ross Bromley, Tom Welch and Scott Taylor were on the mark for the eventual victors.

For the third time this season Ramsfield trailed by four goals before eventually coming back to earn some reward. They entertained Capel Sports & Social with Alan Seary (2), Ben Grehan (2) and Kourosh Eslami all on target as it ended 5-5.

A Terry Cordice brace was enough for Blantyre House to win the basement battle against Dormansland Rockets. Paul Twinn hit the target for the Rockets as it ended 2-1.

Division Three

The big Division Three clash saw Biggin Hill come out 3-0 winners over Tunbridge Wells Foresters to bounce back from their first defeat the previous week.

Despite being under pressure for much of the first half, Hadlow Hornets led Insulators Reserves thanks to a Matt Coleman goal. After the break an Ian Parsons double made it 3-0 but the visitors hit back with a Harry Young brace to threaten a great come back. But Hornets goalkeeper Gareth Mott made a good stop near the end to complete an excellent personal display.

Tonbridge Rangers came back from a 0-2 half time deficit at Brecknock Arms to snatch a draw with Johnny Barber scoring twice. Paul Barnes and Paul Greatrex had given the hosts their initial advantage.

After beating the league leaders the previous week, Goudhurst United were brought back down to earth with a 1-1 draw at basement outfit Tonbridge Invicta. James Found got the United goal with James Laird doing likewise for Invicta.

Brett Howell (2) and Perry Pointing found the net for Yalding & Laddingford as they narrowly won at Paddock Wood by the odd goal in five.

Two goals from Chris Brazenell plus efforts via Aaron Brazenell and Dave Packman gave AFC Foresters a comfortable 0-4 success at Crowborough Town Reserves.

Division Four

Pembury Sunday Reserves leapfrogged Palace and Cranbrook Town to move top of Division Four following a 6-0 defeat of Tonbridge Post Office. Rob Curd and Kevin Smith both scored twice whilst Matt Rice-Tucker and James Roxborough were also on the mark.

A hat trick from Harry Tampsett plus Harvey Parks’ brace ensured Ramsey beat Cranbrook Town, 5-2. The visitors drop to third place as a result of this defeat.

Palace trailed twice at Dormansland Rockets Reserves but came back on both occasions to take a point. Taylor Galvin and Alex O’Shea provided those levellers. Will Gilbert and Aaron Morton were the Rockets marksmen.

Daniel Woods (2) and Matt Grogan got the goals for Brenchley as they moved off the bottom and up three places by beating the Bedford, 3-1. Terry Stephenson was on target for the visitors.

Division Five

Cassidys Phoenix moved back to the top of Division Five despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Crowborough Athletic. Billy Norton and Nathan Milroy earned a point for the Sussex side. Tom Platts and Mike Culverhouse looked to have given Cassidys the spoils until a late Athletic equaliser.

Previous leaders Rusthall Oak slipped down a place as they were beaten 5-3 at Black Horse. Ryan Dilnot’s hat trick proved crucial for the home side as Steve Histed and James London also struck for them. The Oak found the net through Adam Saunders, Terry Hallett and Carl Wilson but two of their goals came very late on.

Robertsbridge Rovers have struggled in their opening season so a 1-1 home draw with Brown Trout was welcome. Craig Walsh was the visiting marksman.

A Rob Gordon hat trick did not give Borough any return from their game against Speldhurst Rangers, which ended 3-4 in favour of the visitors.

Jeff Harrison and Tim Warran-Smith hit the target for Royal Oak as they won at Green Lane Reserves.

And Tonbridge Casuals won by the same scoreline against Brenchley Reserves with Gary Cornwell (pen) and Kevin Fasting doing the honours.

Division Six

Division Six leaders Tornado’s kept clear of the chasing pack with a 4-2 defeat of Green St Blues Reserves. Ash Cook and Ian Tuton (2) were amongst the goals for the home side with George Booker and Stuart Day on target for the visitors.

James Murphy’s goal for Yalding & Laddingford Reserves was good enough to give them a 1-1 draw against visiting Insulator’s ‘A’. Stephen Thompsett got the Insulators goal but sadly broke his leg later in the game and all wish him a swift recovery.

Crowborough Social lost for the second time this season as Tonbridge Origin Reserves lowered their colours at Woodlands Walk. Alex Williamson (2), Will Ashenden and Jamie Moore all contributed to the three points for the home side. Matt Adams (2) and James Bodkin efforts from the visitors proved not enough.

East Grinstead Mavericks took the lead against Hadlow United when Aidan Bramall tapped in. United did equalise but further goals from Tom McLoughlin and Jamie Thorpe gave Mavericks a 3-1 advantage, which was enough to allow for another Hadlow strike. The visiting marksmen were Barnaby Mellors and Jason Hickmott.

King William IV narrowed the gap on second placed Crowborough Social to one point after they beat Crowborough Town Vets. Mark Wickens (2), Chris Cooper and Markus Ford were the home team goalscorers as Matt Taylor found the net for the visitors.
