West Kent Sunday League News Report Sunday 14th October 2018

Overall it was a good day for our teams in the Kent County Cups, with three of the four going through to the third round. St John's Yard will play their delayed Junior Cup tie next Sunday, while Armada's Sunday Premier Cup match at Marden won't be played until the 28th.

Artois United had a good trip to Maidstone to meet the Prince Albert. They came home 4-0 winners with four different scorers - Stefan Draper, Peter Shaw, Jake Fairweather and Lucas Murrain. In goal, Dave Holdstock kept the clean sheet.

Simla were rewarded for their long trip down to Appledore.  Two first half goals for Myles Lowden put  Simla in control of the match but Park Royal pulled a goal back with ten minutes to go. But the score remained 2  - 1 after 90 minutes

Division Two

Just the one game in Division Two, which saw Insulators continue their 100% record with a narrow 4-3 win over St John's Yard. Four different names were on the scoresheet for Insulators, namely Ben Manser, Jacob Pingault, Lewis Disbury  and Martin Page-Mitchell. It was a close game all round, with Insulators going ahead after fifteen minutes, the Yard equalising through Josh Williams. Insulators regained the lead before half-time. St John's Yard equalised again with an own goal, Insulators went ahead again, Page-Mitchell being the scorer then with fifteen minutes remaining Yard's Mush Miah scored from the spot to make it 3-3. Then Yard had a player sent off, Insulators pressed and Disbury scored what proved to be the winner, a headed goal late in the game.

Division Three

Ticehurst Village Club and Goudhurst United continue to set the pace here. Both won on Sunday. The Club travelled to Biggin Hill, where their top scorer Leon Fisher scored twice to take his season's tally to twelve. Tom Drury and an own goal added to the total. Biggin Hill are enduring a tough start in their return to the WKSFL where the fixture list has already pitted them against three of the top four teams. Emanuel Awokunle and Alfie Hough were their scorers.

Goudhurst United's Harvey Parks maintained his record of having scored in every game this season with a one of the three goals scored against Insulators Reserves. James Murphy and James Found also scored. It was a great game where, after prolonged pressure, Goudhurst took the lead through Parks. Insulators battled hard and were rewarded on the stroke of half time as Craig Smith equalised.

The second half was dominated by Goudhurst, although Insulators did have a few good chances and could have grabbed a point before a late third goal saw Goudhurst take all three points.

Tonbridge Origin kept in touch with the leaders, winning 3-0 at Yalding and Laddingford. Their top scorer Ben Holder scored all three, while in goal brother Jamie kept a clean sheet.
