The new football pitch at Batalha, Portugal
This is what our local councils need to do!
Batalha is in the centre of Portugal. Population is 8,000 ie about the same size as Edenbridge or Paddock Wood

The new ground from the outside. It was a VERY rainy day.

The 3G surface up close.

The pitch is marked out for seven a side and used just about every night by all ages.

The poster outside tells that €429,000 Euros was spent - that's about £386,000 and a very large investment indeed. It includes the as yet uncompleted landscaping and training circuit ie outdoor gym.

This is the old pitch - the dreaded terra batida (gravel) pitch still used for training.

They don't currently have a senior team, U-19 is the highest level playing here.

All sorts of age group teams play here.
