Kent Sunday Junior Cup

Odukwe are in the third round after a narrow 3-2 victory over Red  Heathens of the Ashford League. In that round they will face another team from the Ashford area, Egerton.

They will be joined by Charcott, who beat TW Ridgewaye 6-2 with goals from two goals from Jay Pring, one each from Luke French, Ryan Silvester, Jools Walker and an own goal. Ridgewaye's goals came from Tyler  Markwell and Johnny Hughes. For one reason or another this was Ridgewaye's first game for a month, so maybe they were a bit rusty.

In the next round Charcott will meet Paddock Wood, thus guaranteeing a WKSFL club in Round Four.

The draw for the third round of the Kent Sunday Cups includes these ties for our teams. Matches are scheduled for 21st November.

Surrey Sunday Lower Junior Cup

Dormansland Rockets have had a good run in this cup in recent seasons. On Sunday they began their campaing with a trip to Morden in South London.

Despite being on top, against a workmanlike but willing side it took until half way through the first half for Rockets to take the lead through Tom Poulter. Further goals were added before half time by a  Rich Wetton penalty and the lively Rhys White on his full debut. After a good passing move, Rockets scored straight from the kick off in the second half  when Tom Poulter was in the right place again to extend the lead.

There then followed five minutes of madness from the away team when lax defending allowed Morden United to score two quick goals. Rockets resumed control and a further strike from Rich Wetton and Ollie Muggeridge's second header in two weeks saw the Rockets comfortably home, with the final score 6-2 in their favour.

Division One / Two

In the top tier, the top three are beginning to pull away from the pack, but Green Lane are behind with their fixtures and are as yet the only unbeaten team. Sunday saw then scrap out a 1-1 draw at Pembury Sunday, who may be ruing those two dropped points later. Johnny Phillips scored for the Lane, Charlie Johns for Pembury.

Leaders Simla made it two 5- 0  wins in a row after that big defeat at the hands of Artois United three weeks ago. Victims this time were AFC Borough, scores for Simla being Alex Carey with two,Ian Parsons, Luke Leppard and Elliott Moon. Our man in the know says that the score was perhaps a little misleading, with Simla's 'keeper Joe Cullipp making two tremendous first half saves to deny AFC Borough. Borough worked their socks off for the whole game, facing up to their powerful opponents. Simla certainly knew they had been in a game.

Artois United leap-frogged over Paddock Wood  into second place with a resounding 7- 1 home win. Goalscorers were Peter Shaw, Ryan Hine with a couple, Regan Corke, Nathan Moseley, Taylor Galvin and Lucas Murrain.

Insulators have recruited Ben Boodle to their ranks. In season 2018 - 2019, Boodle scored 41 times for Cassidy's Phoenix and he started off his Insulators service with a hat-trick in their 5-4 home win over Goudhurst United.

This game didn't start well for the home side when a weak back pass was pounced on by a Goudhurst forward to open the scoring in the first minute. Insulators grew into the game and Ben Boodle scored from close range on his debut to equalise. After 15 minutes Kane Ramsell crossed for Cole Walsh to score from close in to put the home side ahead. After half an hour Boodle added a second from close range after a rebound fell kindly. Half time 3-1 to Insulators.

In the second half Goudhurst pulled one back from close in after 53 minutes and with fifteen minutes remaining equalised from 10 yards. Anyone's game at this point. Soon afterwards, Reece Beecroft scored a fine goal direct from a free kick 25 yards out to put the home side back in front. In the 87th minute Boodle completed a fine hat trick from 25 yards. There was still time for Dan Marks to pull off an excellent save in the home goal in the 93rd minute which was fortunate as Goudhurst scored in the 95th minute via an own goal perhaps, but claimed by a Goudhurst player. A bit of a thriller and played in excellent spirit by both teams. Goudhurst's scorers were Jonny Riordan with two, John Bartram and James Found.

A 2 -2 draw between AFC Tonbridge and St John's Yard gave both their first point of the season. Callum Donoghue and Tyler Richardson scored for AFC Tonbridge,  Dan Hunter, Kyal Loring for the Yard.

Division Three

Sedlescombe Rangers kept top spot with a huge 19 - 0 win at home against bottom side Riverside Colts. Colts could muster only  eight players for the long trip but sportingly went ahead to play the game. The long list of Rangers scorers :  Alvin Scott with six, Zack Mceniry hit five, there was on each from Rhys Daniels, Hugh Lane, Archie Irving,  Alfie Shand, Ross Chambers, Josh Pool, Henry Lankston and an own goal.

Royal Oak dropped their first points of the season, being held 3-3 at home by Ticehurst Village. It was a close fought game, with the Oak's Matt Last opening the scoring against the run of play, Ticehurst responded with Nathan Green’s first goal for the club and a 30 yard bullet from Leon Fisher took them into the lead. Royal Oak equalised through Dan Hunter. Ticehurst went ahead again with Mehmet Coskun’s first touch on his debut. It was looking like a well earned three points for the away team until a hopeful long shot unfortunately was spilled through keeper's legs in the final minute own goal.

Speldhurst Rangers move into fourth after a 3-1 win at home to lowly Tonbridge United. Speldhurst were wasteful in their victory (especially James Hughes). Speldhurst played liquid football for the first goal. A goal kick taken short ended in Greg Gamm going on a mazy run.  He laid it off to Andreas Theodorou, who passed to Rich Williamson, who scored his first goal for the club. His celebration was to rip off his shirt and reveal his moist bulging chest hair and swing his shirt above his head. (Ugh!)

Tonbridge United levelled in the second half through Warren Jarvis despite appeals for offside. Speldhurst grabbed their second after an Ollie Crees shot was spilled out to Dan 'The Badger' Kelly, who did his best to miss by smashing the ball into the roof of the net. Super sub Andy Watts wrapped up the game 30 seconds after coming back onto the field of play. Rich Williamson was credited with the assist. Apparently his general state of being was an improvement on last week.

Westerham recovered from two successive defeats with a 3-2 win over Artois United Reserves. Ollie Sugden scored both for Artois Reserves. This was a rather unsavourty games that saw two players from each side sent off.

Insulators Reserves join the mid table pack with a 3-1 win at AFC Borough Reserves. Insulators started well and dominated the opening exchanges and only some wayward finishing keeping Borough on level terms.  An early injury to Nik Weedon didn’t impact the dominance and the deadlock was finally broken on 23 minutes by Harry Mascall after a great through ball from Toby Gandell.

Borough came into the game a bit more and Oscar Harrison managed to break through the high line four minutes before the break to equalise. 1-1 at half time.

Both Insulators centre backs having to be replaced at half time wasn’t ideal, but the makeshift back line performed well in the second half to limit Borough to only a handful of chances.  With Craig Smith in goal excelling in his new sweeper 'keeper role and making some smart saves, Borough weren’t able to find the back of the net.An hour into the game and Bailey Wright closed down the Borough' keeper and intercepted the clearance to find himself on the by line. He was able to curl the ball into the top corner for a great finish. 2 - 1 to Insulators

Three minutes later, Harry Mascall turned provider with another wonderful pass which was latched onto by Jacob Pingault who finished smartly to make it three for Insulators. The game was very open for the last 25 minutes but with no further goals it was Insulators who took the spoils. Hopefully this will be the start of a run up towards the top end of the division.

Dunton Green resumed activity after two weeks lay-off with a 4-4 draw against TW Ridgewaye Reserves. Their goals were scored by Alec Gates, Frankie Ingram with two and Luke Alleway.
